The Problem
Local retail shops in Kerala had no affordable way to sell online — national marketplaces are built for large sellers, and small shops, wholesalers, and distributors each needed different tooling. The goal was one platform that serves everyday B2C shoppers, B2B wholesale ordering, and the distributor/stockist supply chain behind them.
What I Built
As lead developer I worked across the full stack and led the team building the platform: a consumer-facing storefront for browsing and ordering from nearby shops, shop-side tooling for catalog, inventory, and order management, and multi-role account flows so customers, retailers, wholesalers, and distributors each get the right experience. I owned technical decisions end-to-end — data modeling, APIs, and the web frontend — while coordinating the team's day-to-day delivery.
The Outcome
The platform is live at slrshoppee.com, serving shoppers, retail shops, and wholesale/distribution businesses in one ecosystem, and became the foundation for the React Native mobile app that followed. Leading the build end-to-end covered the full arc from data model to production launch.
Key Decisions & Challenges
Led a small dev team while contributing hands-on across frontend and backend.
Modeled a multi-sided marketplace: B2C storefront, B2B wholesale, and distributor/stockist roles on one platform.
Built shop-side catalog, inventory, and order-management tooling alongside the consumer storefront.
Platform later became the base for the SLRShoppee React Native mobile app.
