The Problem
Books read without notes fade fast. I wanted a permanent, searchable record of every book I read — key ideas, my own summary, and a way to share recommendations (with affiliate links) — rather than letting the insights evaporate.
What I Built
Built a personal library site on Next.js and Node.js with Neo4j as the datastore — a graph fits books naturally, relating titles to authors and topics so connections between reads surface on their own. Each entry records the book's info, cover, my summary, and an affiliate link.
The Outcome
Running continuously since mid-2023 as a genuine long-term habit: every book read gets recorded, and the graph keeps growing. It doubles as a public reading log and a low-stakes playground for trying Neo4j graph modeling outside of work.
Key Decisions & Challenges
Graph data model in Neo4j relating books, authors, and topics.
Maintained continuously since mid-2023 — a real habit, not a demo.
